Set in the North Yorkshire countryside lies the Middleton Lodge Estate, which houses the stunning Fig House wedding venue.
Middleton Lodge is something of a unique venue as it hosts three different wedding venues throughout the estate however it maintains that exclusive feel as all the venues are spread around the grounds and have their own areas and car parks so no matter where you are you'll only bump into guests from the wedding you are attending
This was the second time we had been to Fig House to film a wedding however it was the first time we had filmed a ceremony there. We were invited by Abbie and David to film their wedding. I had previously met Abbie before as she was a bridesmaid at Claire and Mark's wedding at The Derwent Manor back in April 2018. It is always nice getting invited to come and film a wedding by couples who not only like your work but also have seen you in action.
One week before the wedding day I met up with Abbie and David and their Pug Peppa to do a pre shoot. They had wanted Peppa to be involved in the wedding day however the venue didn't allow pets so we arranged to do a quick shoot in some nearby woods so we could get Peppa involved in the wedding film. And she was a joy to work with.
On the day of the wedding I arrived early to film the bridal preparations at The Farmhouse, which is where the bridal party were staying within the Middleton Lodge estate. When I got there hair and make up was being done and it was also where I met Lena from Casablanca Photography for the very first time. I had seen her shoot a friends' wedding a couple of years ago and she came highly recommended.
Whilst I was filming the bridal party and doing the detailed shots, Keith was with David at his home near Washington with his groomsmen before they made their way to the Estate, which was a 45 minute drive.
The ceremony room at Fig House is a real intimate affair and provides an excellent backdrop for a service. After this we headed out into the stunning walled garden for drinks, the formal shots and the all important confetti walk from Abbie and David.
Before the speeches we shot some of the romantic shots in the stunning garden and found a real autumnal setting to get some shots.
The speeches were something special with David providing the laughs and some sincere words from the heart which was totally unscripted and draw large cheers.
The evening was something special which a couple of guests enjoying a dance off doing some great break dancing moves before the cutting of the cake and then the first dance which was to an acoustic version of Alica Keys' No One. The guests then flocked onto the dance floor and we captured some amazing personal memories of Abbie dancing with her grandparents.
